Potatoes in a Barrel

Okay, this was such a fun & easy project! You don't even have to have a yard. This Spud Barrel can go on your deck, the patio or in a sunny spot outside your garage. I heard about growing your own potato's in a Barrel on the Internet, and decided to try it myself! Cut large drain holes in the bottom or cut out the base. Next fill in the bottom with several inches of loose planting mix.

Use any good soil mix that has lots of peat moss in it. The acid level helps prevents potato scab. I have no idea what ‘scab' is and quite frankly don't want to know, but it obviously something you don't want. Next plant the potato or several potatoes a few inches deep into the container.

Soon your potatoes will grow and when they have about 6 to 8 inches of foliage add some more soil mix covering about ½ of the stems and foliage. Do this every time you have new growth. Soon the potato plant will be flowering.. Every time you add a layer of soil!!

When the whole plant dies back, kick over the barrel for a bountiful harvest! Preston had so much fun digging out all the potato's!

Garage Sale Find!!

I am SO excited about this AWESOME garage sale find! I've never seen anything like it before, it is made out of fiber glass, and pretty heavy! I bought it for just $10!! Preston has a very "cars" themed room so this will go just perfect!!! I plan on getting some cream vinyl fabric and making a seat for it! I LOVE GARAGE SALES!!!!!

Our house is SOLD!!! It was bitter sweet to sign the papers to sell our house on Friday. We have so many memories there, not to mention all the REMODELING we did!! But with the economy the way it is, we also feel extremely grateful that it sold in only 4 months!
Now...we move into our new home on the 1st of December!!! Pictures coming soon!!

Happy Halloween!!!

We had an awesome Halloween this year! We spent it in Beulah with our friends Mav & Jenny! The Boys really enjoyed trick-or-treating, especially Preston who really got into it this year! And Jim successfully avoided the swine flu with his costume!!!
